The Electrifying Drayage Alliance (EDA) is a partnership between Smart Freight Centre and The Climate Pledge (TCP), created to accelerate the electrification of port drayage. By bringing together shippers, logistics providers, carriers, ports, and solution partners, the Alliance provides a collaborative platform to overcome barriers and scale adoption across key global trade hubs.
Port drayage, the movement of containers from ports to nearby warehouses, represents one of the most practical opportunities for electrification. Concentrated flows, short predictable routes, and strong commitment from ports and customers make this a natural starting point for electric trucking.
Through the EDA, members gain a collaborative space to share knowledge, visibility of electric drayage offerings, and access insights from port authorities on policies and infrastructure that can support their electrification. By working together, members can contribute to:
- Eliminating truck emissions at and around ports
- Enabling end-to-end sustainable supply chains
- Advancing community wellbeing by reducing noise and air pollution in port areas
The Alliance is about turning shared ambition into practical progress, combining port data, procurement support, and financing tools to put electric trucks on the road and scale solutions across major global ports.

Sharing best practices and supporting transactions between forwarders and carriers to scale adoption

Exploring tools such as a Port Drayage Fund, subsidies, and pay-per-use models to overcome upfront barriers and accelerate deployment
